Writers Needed for Two General Election Ballot Measures

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
August 3, 2022

PORT ORCHARD – The Kitsap County Auditor's Office – Elections Division seeks volunteers to write arguments against two ballot measures appearing on the November 8, 2022 General Election ballot.

One measure is a Lid Lift for Kitsap County Fire District #18 (Poulsbo Fire). The other is an EMS Levy for North Kitsap Fire & Rescue.

According to Revised Code of Washington 29A.32.280, districts proposing the measures are responsible for appointing committees to write arguments for and against each measure. The districts did not appoint a committee to write the arguments against the measures, so the Kitsap County Elections Office is seeking individuals to serve on those committee.

The General Election Local Voters' Pamphlet includes official ballot titles, explanatory statements, arguments "for" and "against" each measure, and rebuttals.

Committee members must be residents within fire district boundaries to draft arguments. Interested parties should contact the Elections Division by Friday, Aug. 5. Please email auditor@kitsap.gov,  or call 360-337-7128 if interested. Arguments are due by Aug. 10.

Resolutions submitted by the districts for each measure are at the Resolutions page on the Kitsap County Auditor's website.

The format for writing arguments can be found on page 16 and 17 in the Candidate and Guidelines Measures Guidelines Book.
