| | | 9/27/2021 | (Port Orchard, WA) At the beginning of the year, DCD began a project with the UW Student Consulting Lab, where we worked with four graduate students completing their master's in public administration. The students were tasked with evaluating data analytics mechanisms in the department and developing PowerBI Dashboards to increase transparency on our permitting review metrics. The project team met with internal and external stakeholder groups to gain the "voice of the customer" perspective. Those stakeholder groups included DCD Leadership, DCD review staff, KBA/DAG members, and local builders and developers. The students developed three dashboards based on their interviews, two internal and one external. Over the last few months, DCD has been working on syncing the data for automatic and frequent data refreshes and fine-tuning the foundational work the UW students provided. We are proud to be launching the first dashboard the students created – Our NEW Where's My Permit in Line? Dashboard! Customers identified understanding where a permit is within the review queue as critical. The intuitive dashboard provides permit applicants with an overview of the status, including permit review steps, current days in review, review cycle information, position in the review queue, and helpful links for quick access to other resources. Our NEW Where's My Permit in Line? Dashboard will be published on our Permit Timeframes & Statistics webpage. All you need to do is enter your permit number and your information will be displayed on your page. There is a quick tutorial video available on using this dashboard.
