Kitsap County is pleased to announce the release of the City of Bremerton & Kitsap County Affordable Housing Recommendations Report, March 2020, prepared by ECONorthwest. In response to the affordable housing challenges facing many Kitsap County residents, the County and City of Bremerton partnered to have a study completed to better understand housing affordability issues. Washington State Department of Commerce offers a reference for local governments which provides an overview about what affordable housing is, where afforability is a problem, policy frameworks, planning, fund/finance options, and preservation.
An annual update from the Affordable Housing Advisory Board on affordable housing needs, accomplishments and recommendations to improve access to safe and affordable housing for all Washington residents.
Kitsap County's Homeless Crisis Response and Housing Plan provides background data on homelessness, reports on progress to date, and outlines the goals, strategies and action steps to be implemented over the next five years to make homelessness rare, brief, and one-time. The Kitsap County Homeless Housing Plan was last updated for 2018 and was approved by the Kitsap County Board of Commissioners.
The Washington State Department of Commerce provides an overview on the housing crisis, legal aspects of affordable housing, tools to promote affordability, and local government examples.
