County Transitions Fair & Stampede to Nonprofit Organization
October 28, 2019 – The Kitsap County Board of Commissioners adopted two resolutions leading to the transition of the County Fair & Rodeo to a non-profit organization.  The transition was recommended by an experienced Fair consulting firm which weighed the differences of the business models that would lead to the long term  sustainability of the community event.

The County Commissioners appointed eight community members to serve on a Transition Team tasked with working with a nonprofit organization to assume management and operation of the Kitsap County Fair and Stampede in 2020.  To ensure that the nonprofit organization is qualified to conduct the Kitsap County Fair and Stampede, the Transition Team has been provided critical elements that are to be achieved.   Since March 2019 Parks staff has been working with a consultant in developing policies, procedures, and potential services providers to support a Transition Team.

In a corresponding resolution, the County Commissioners adopted an ordinance repealing a Chapter of the County Code and dissolving the Kitsap County Fair Advisory Board. Click here for the Long Term Sustainability Study Report.
