Public Hearing on Stormwater Code Revisions
Proposed stormwater code revisions are the subject of a Public Hearing hosted by the Kitsap County Planning Commission.  The public hearing is Tuesday, May 6 at the Kitsap County Administration Building (619 Division Street) in Port Orchard at here

DCD Provides Online Permit Center Training
DCD is hosting a series of training opportunities for customers using the Online Permit Center.  The first training will be held in Kitsap County Administration Building - Commissioners Chambers on Friday, February 21st at 2pm.  This session includes how to schedule and inquire about inspections, obtain general permit information, and register to access you own permits. View the flyer for details. Customers can also submit residential mechanical/plumbing and emergency repair applications online. Sign Code Update
Kitsap County is updating its sign code (Title 17 KCC) in a cooperative planning effort with countywide interest groups and individuals.  During the month of February Kitsap County will be presenting at multiple venues, including all community advisory councils, to acquire public feedback for the preliminary draft sign code here

Residential Mechanical/Plumbing Applications Accepted Online
DCD is testing the online permit submittal option for customers. This first phase of deployment allows customers to submit Residential Mechanical/Plumbing applications by using the Online Permit here

Kitsap County Implementation of Initiative 502
The Board of County Commissioners adopted adding new Chapter 17.465 "Marijuana Regulations" to Kitsap County Code for the adoption of restrictions on the production, processing and retailing of recreational marijuana to comply with the passage of Washington Initiative here

Director's Administrative Interpretation of Code relative to Kingston Lumber Preliminary Short Plat Application
A preliminary short plat application was received for the Kingston Lumber site in November 2012, and subsequently declared incomplete in December 2012. The applicant requested a code interpretation that the application can be approved under current code.  The linked letter provides the Director’s here

County Receives Two National Awards for Innovative Programs

Draft Gorst Watershed Planning
The City of Bremerton and Kitsap County, in partnership with other state, federal, and tribal agencies, has developed a 20-year plan for the future of Gorst. The purpose of this cooperative planning effort has been to develop a land use plan that is based on the ecological values and functions of the Gorst Creek here

Director's Administrative Interpretation on Postponement of Issuing Decisions, KCC 21.04.200(G)
In June 2012, the Board of County Commissioners adopted amendments to Title 21 KCC ‘Land Use and Development Procedures’ outlining timeframes for permit application review.  KCC 21.04.200.G is ambiguous as to whether a request under this section can only be requested just prior to the issuance of a decision or at some point earlier and whether this section can be invoked if an applicant had already received an extension under the other sections of KCC 21.04.200. The linked memo clarifies the application of this section.

Community Development (DCD) is open for limited services on Fridays starting May 10
Beginning May 10, 2013 DCD is open to the public for limited services on Fridays between 9:00 am and 1:00 pm. Services available include building permit submittal and issuance, Planner-of-the-Day (general inquiries), and building review questions and inspection coordination. The department is open for normal services at 9:00 a.m. Monday through Thursday and closes at 4:00 pm.

Board of County Commissioner's Adopt Agricultural Signage Pilot Program
Kitsap County's agricultural community requested sign code flexibility to allow placement of off-premise signs advertising seasonal agricultural products that are currently not allowed.  For more information, please here

Director's Interpretation regarding Vacation Rentals clarifies how they may be used
DCD has provided a Director's Interpretation to clarify how 'vacation rentals' are limited in use.  The interpretation makes it clear that other uses (non-vacation rental uses) are further provided for or regulated by Kitsap County Code Title 17 'Zoning.  If there are questions about the interpretation, please contact Scott Diener, Manager, Development Services at (360) 337-5777 here
