Kitsap County’s Department of Community Development is
taking more time in its code development efforts related
to county code compliance as a result of direction given
by the Board of County Commissioners at a recent
The Commissioners asked the department to return during
the first quarter of 2015 with a clear problem statement
and compounding issues related to the current code
enforcement processes. The Commissioners also want a
better idea of the magnitude of the code compliance case
load, and alternative strategies to update the code.
The Board will review the information received and
decide how to proceed.
County-wide Stage 1 Burn Ban
lifted on 9/25/2014
Due to the recent
rains, the Kitsap County Fire Marshal in coordination with area Fire Chiefs has declared, effective 8:00AM
Thursday, 25 September 2014, the lifting of the Stage 1 Burn
Ban for Kitsap County which has been in effect since
mid-July. Contact your local fire district for info on
outdoor burning rules and regulations for your area...
Sign Code Update
Kitsap County is updating its sign code (Title 17 KCC)
in a cooperative planning effort with countywide
interest groups and individuals. A final draft
ordinance is available for review. Public comments will
be heard at the Board of County Commissioners October 6,

Board of County Commissioner has adopted an Ordinance
amending Kitsap County Code concerning Shooting Ranges.

DCD Provides Online Permit Center Training
DCD is hosting a series of training opportunities for
customers using the Online Permit Center.
The first training will be held in Kitsap County
Administration Building - Commissioners Chambers on
Friday, February 21st at 2pm.
This session includes how to schedule and inquire
about inspections, obtain general permit information,
and register to access you own permits.

Customers can also submit residential
mechanical/plumbing and emergency repair applications
online. To visit the Online Permit Center go to
www.kitsapgov.com/dcd/ and click the Permit Center link in
the right section.

Beginning May 10, 2013 DCD
is open to the public for limited services on Fridays
between 9:00 am and 1:00 pm. Services available include
building permit submittal and issuance,
Planner-of-the-Day (general inquiries), and building
review questions and inspection coordination. The
department is open for normal services at 9:00 a.m.
Monday through Thursday and closes at 4:00 pm.
