Public Records Requests (Chapter 42.56 RCW)


Welcome, to the Kitsap County Prosecutor’s Public Records webpage.  We are providing the following information in order to assist you in obtaining the records you are seeking in the most expedient manner possible. 

 

REQUESTS FOR DISCOVERY IN CRIMINAL CASES and TRAFFIC VIOLATIONS 

**Requests for discovery are NOT public records requests. **   Requests for discovery should be directed to the Criminal Division of the Kitsap County Prosecutor's Office, at (360) 337-7174 or KCPA@co.kitsap.wa.us.  
 

REQUESTS FOR COURT RECORDS

Requests for court records should be directed to the court where the matter was heard.


Kitsap County District Court Records - In most cases, Kitsap County District Court records can be accessed immediately, at no-cost, by searching for a defendant's name or case number on the District Court's webpage. https://www.kitsapgov.com/dc/Pages/ecourt_Search.aspx

Kitsap County Superior Court Records – Kitsap County Superior Court records can be downloaded immediately for a small fee from the WA State Archives – Digital Archives website by searching under Superior Court Collections for a case number or defendant name.  https://www.digitalarchives.wa.gov/.  For newer records, it is best to search by case number. To find a case number for a defendant, you can search by defendant name on the WA Courts' website. https://dw.courts.wa.gov/index.cfm?fa=home.home

REQUESTS FOR POLICE REPORTS

Requests for police reports should be directed to the law enforcement agency which created the report.  Contact information for local law enforcement agencies and the Washington State Patrol can be found below:

Bainbridge Island Police Department

Kitsap County Sheriff's Office

Port Orchard Police Department

Poulsbo Police Department

Requests for other Kitsap County records can be submitted online through Kitsap County's Public Records Center or by contacting Mark Brockman, the Kitsap County Public Records Coordinator at (360) 307-4261 or publicrecords@co.kitsap.wa.us  


REQUESTS FOR KITSAP COUNTY PROSECUTOR RECORDS

The Public Records Officer for the Kitsap County Prosecutor's Office is Deborah Meyers.

Requests for public records held by the Prosecutor’s Office must be submitted to the Prosecutor's Office Public Records Officer. Requests may be submitted: in person, by fax, by postal mail, or by email.

Our office hours are Monday - Friday (8:00 AM-12:00 PM and 1:30 PM-4:30 PM).  We are closed on weekends and Kitsap County holidays. All public records requests received after business hours are deemed received the next business day.
