Garbage, Recycling, and Limited Household Hazardous Waste

Visa/MasterCard, cash or check accepted. Make checks payable to "KCPW" and have valid ID. Write drivers license number and phone number on check.

All waste must be unloaded by hand - no tipping from dump trucks or trailers. Disposal fees are based on size and volume, not weight.

 Fees and Accepted Items

​​WA Solid Waste Collection Tax (3.6%) is added to all solid waste disposal transactions. No tax on recycled wastes.

45 gallon can = 1.5 cans

64 gallon can = 2 cans

96 gallon can = 3 cans

​Large household appliances

Must be empty.

Refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, water coolers, washers, dryers, stoves, ovens, dishwashers, water heaters, trash compactors, heat pumps. See all recycling locations for these appliances.

No commercial appliances accepted.

​Unsecured/uncovered load fee

Required by RCW 46.61.655 and Kitsap Code 9.18.010. Law enforcement can also issue fines.

 Recycle

Recyclables must be empty, clean, dry, and loose. No bagged items, plastic bags and wrap, Styrofoam, or shredded paper.

The following items are collected at no charge:

  • Plastic bottles, jugs, jars, and dairy tubs (no lids or caps)

  • Cardboard (flattened)

  • Paper - mail, magazines and catalogs, newspaper, office paper, phone books, paperboard boxes, etc.

  • Metal cans (no loose lids)

  • Glass bottles and jars (no lids or caps)

  • Liquid cooking oil(Filter at home to remove food particles. Put empty container into trash.)

  • Clothing and shoes(dry)


 Household Hazardous Waste

The following household hazardous items are accepted for no charge from residents. Business waste is not accepted.

Antifreeze from personal vehicles

​5 gallon limit per day. Put empty antifreeze containers in the garbage, not the recycling.

Motor oil from personal vehicles

​​5 gallon limit per day. Put empty motor oil containers in the garbage, not the recycling.

Batteries

​Small household batteries (alkaline, button, or rechargeable) and vehicle batteries weighing less than 50 lbs.

Batteries over the weight limit are accepted at the Household Hazardous Waste Facility.

Compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) and Tubes

​Limit 10 CFLs or tubes per day, per person

Needles/syringes

Place in FDA-cleared sharps container, laundry detergent container, or 2-liter soda bottle. No other containers are accepted. Fill no more than 3/4 full. Label container as "BIOHAZARD." Label available at facility.
